AWS Athena Connection Guide

Creating Manual Connection

  • Navigate to the Administrator > Databases > Connection Management > DB Connections menu.

  • Click Create Connections and select Athena.

  • Enter all the required values for the connection.

    • When creating an Athena connection manually, you must enter your AWS Access Key and AWS Secret Key. This information should correspond to a user registered in AWS IAM (Identity and Access Management). You can typically find this information on the AWS IAM > Users page in your AWS console.

Cloud Provider Synced Connections

For Athena connections that are synced via a Cloud Provider configuration (set up under Administrator > Databases > Connection Management > Cloud Providers), separate input of an AWS Access Key and AWS Secret Key is not required at the connection level, as the authentication is handled by the Cloud Provider setup.
